| Description: A massive global success, Pleasures contains two unusual ingredients. Karo-karounde is the blossom of a West African shrub similar to jasmine with a touch of hawthorn. Baie rose, grown in the island of Reunion, has been prized as a spice since the fifth century but never used in perfumery before. Lauder employed a new technique - 'soft extraction' - to produce it. Carbon dioxide in a supercritical state between liquid and gas is passed through the raw material and 'softly' extracts the essence, leaving no imprint on the smell. The result is a purer extract with more of the natural top notes intact.
